kill

Send a signal to a process. The command utility kill is a wrapper for this system call.

Syntax

#include <signal.h>

int kill (int pid, int sig);

Parameters

  • pid

    The Process ID (PID) that will be signaled.

  • sig

    The signal to send, see the page for signal.

Return Value

The return value is zero on success, negative otherwise.

  • EINVAL

    Invalid argument.

  • ESRCH

    No such process.
